Les Halman Nurseries has grown up
along-side the
 development of the Garden Centre industry and the general sale of
garden plants over the last 25 years. The nursery occupies 7 acres on which
there are 3 acres of glasshouses and polytunnels, all heated with warm air
heaters. Two acres of land are utilised as standing out ground, there is plenty
of room for further expansion in the future.
 Along with Les, Mavis and
Stuart, we currently employ 6 full-time and 8 regular part-time staff on the
nursery. In the mid 1990's Les Halman Nurseries joined forces with two other
Growers to form a marketing company. The company, Quality Ornamentals Ltd.
 headed by Sales Manager Mr. Paul Brooking is hugely
successful selling the plant products of the three nurseries. Customers include
independent Garden Centres, Garden Centre chains and Multiples. With the use of
a specialist haulage company deliveries are made all over mainland
Britain.
The main crops grown are bedding plants, alpines,
perennials and herbs, plus hanging baskets, patio tubs, geraniums and fuchsias.
We currently produce 250,000 packs of bedding, 44,000 Fuchsias, 36,000
Geraniums, 6,000 hanging baskets and 70,000 basket plants
annually. |
